East West University Hosts Insightful Seminar on Niccolò Machiavelli

East West University (EWU) has successfully organized a seminar titled “Who was Niccolò Machiavelli (1469-1527)? Why Should We Read His Books?” on 20 April 2025, at the university’s Manzur Elahi Auditorium. The seminar offered a deep dive into the life and enduring relevance of the renowned political philosopher.

Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of East West University, delivered his welcome remarks, setting the stage for the engaging discussion. The session was expertly presented by Dr. Joy Samad, a distinguished Member of the Board of Trustees at East West University and an Associate Professor of Social Sciences at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS). Dr. Samad provided insightful perspectives on Machiavelli’s historical context, key ideas, and the reasons why his works continue to be significant in contemporary discourse.

Following the presentation, an engaging Question & Answer session allowed participants to interact directly with Dr. Samad, fostering a deeper understanding of Machiavelli’s complex legacy. Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, EWU, presided over the program and delivered his insightful address as the program chair.

The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from Members of the Board of Trustees, the Pro-Vice Chancellor, the Treasurer, faculty members, administrative officers, and students of East West University, demonstrating the university’s commitment to intellectual engagement and critical thinking.
